Coup De Tarte -7- The Enlightenment (Updated 5/4/24)

 So off they went

Cake-Pie and Pieman
Towards the jelly mansion
To find out what's at hand
And the mansion was close
It was nearly in sight
And the Pieman determined
He should prepare his Cake-Pie

"The light will be bright
And there'll be others like me
Just answer the questions
With the joy from jelly
And don't be disturbed
By all that you see *
For you are my Cake-Pie
One of my chosen jellied treats"

As they entered
They saw the Caker and Chef
And a creamy creation
Filled with jelly to the crest
Though the Cake-Pie was joyous
For it's one of its kin
The Pieman was nervous
By the Caker's champion

[...]

[Chef]

Mestuffstoplease
We're so glad that you're back
We were nervous that you flaked
With all that's been said

[Mestuffstoplease]

Nonsense
Cake-pie just needed a pep talk *
Though not that he'll need it *
For Pie-cake's looking quite soft *
With all that cream he's lost meaning *

[Via]

You kid Pieman
But that's why we like you
Now let's look at your champion
And see why it likes goo

[Chef]

Cake-Pie
I'm Chef and this is the Caker
Do you have a name
What does the Pieman call you

[Cake-Pie]

I am one of his chosen ones
But specifically I'm called Cake 3

[Mestuffstplease]

He's one of the Red Velvets
He was once blind but now sees

[Chef]

And Via
Who do you present

[Via]

This was a pie
Formerly known as Cherry
But I brought him back from the dead
For in crust he was buried

[Chef]

Hello Cherry
How are you today
Do you like your new being
With your cream and jelly

[Pie-Cake]

Yes Chef
The Caker treated me well
For I could not see before
But I've been freed from my shell

[Chef]

Excellent
Now I would like to congratulate you
For you are your caretaker's favorites
And though the other is your maker
Your caretaker enhanced your flavors

But now I would like to ask some questions
And freely elaborate to share your newly found blessings...

Cake-Pie, what was life like before you found jelly
What has jelly done for you and do you like it in your belly

[Cake-Pie]

Life before jelly was okay
I had everything I needed
So I never needed to pray

But life after jelly made me want to share everything
And though cream met my needs It did not fulfill my cake being

[Via]

Cake-Pie what do you mean by fulfill
And what were you sharing

[Cake-Pie]

I was made with great cream
And though I appreciated what I had
Jelly gave me a zing
It made me want to share and be glad

[Chef]

Pie-Cake
What about you
Tell us your experience
With the cream and the goo

[Pie-Cake]

Before I felt smothered
And life was never enough
But all that changed
When the Caker removed my top crust

In fact I used to feel trapped
Inside my fruit fillings
And now the air it feels crisp
But it can also feel rather chilling

That's why I'm so grateful to the Caker
And his abundance of cream
For it protects what's underneath
And flavors the air that I breathe

[Chef]

Honestly, I don't know what to say
I was decided on cream with pie
But both of their experiences
Seemed like blessings to me

[Chef]

Cake-Pie and Pie-Cake
Please don't be nervous
But we're going to have a taste
Just know that you dessert us

[Via]

That's too easy Chef
Not fair

[Mestuffstoplease]

Fear not Cake 3
For this is why I gave you goo
To give yourself unto us
As we have given unto you

[Cake-Pie]

Okay

[Mestuffstoplease]

I don't know cause I'm not a cake
But if pain does occur
Know you'll be in cake Heaven eventually

[Cake-Pie]

...

[Chef]

Don't play with your food
Mestuffstoplease

[...]

[Chef]

The cream is delicious
And the jelly has some zip
But balance is required
For this cherry makes me sick

[Via]

I tried to compensate
Perhaps more than a bit
But I'll readjust going forward
With a little less jelly and less whip

[Mestuffstoplease]

Yes this cherry is a little off-putting
For crust is more than a shell
It provides texture and extra footing
For the pie and its travails*

[Via]

I think you're being sentimental
But indeed it doesn't taste right
Perhaps if we thicken the crust's base
It will balance its newfangled delight

[...]

[Chef]

The jelly on top's a nice touch
Now let's see what's underneath
Gentlemen if you will
Help yourself to a piece

[Via]

This is a fairly good balance
Though I believe it's still a bit much
You should limit jelly to the seams
For it takes up too much of the cake crumb

[Chef]

I agree Mestuffstoplease
You've almost turned this cake into pie
But with just a little more balance
We can fix all that gooiness inside

[Mestuffstoplease]

I know you're right Chef
And in my haste to delight them with jelly
I perhaps went overboard
With what I put inside their bellies *

 [Chef]

Though both of you aren't winners
We have found something unique
But we'll keep making the originals
To appeal to all needs

But there will be no more Cake-Pies
And there will be no more Pie-Cakes...

[Mestuffstoplease]

I'm confused
What are you trying to say

[Chef]

Let's just use the attributes of both
To enhance both of their beings

[Mestuffstoplease]

So a cake-pie team

[Chef]

Yes, but no

[Via]

I'm confused too chef
What are you trying to say

[Chef]

You two will now work in tandem
But you'll do your own thing
You will teach the other your craft
And you'll roam where you please

And now since some cakes look like pies
And some pies look like cakes
Perhaps we should move them together
To sell both of more treats

[Mestuffstoplease]

That is a great idea
But before pies can assimilate
I'll have to jelly on more cakes
And gossip that pies are just the same

Otherwise cakes will want to pie purge
For they view the other as a shame
And that would sour their own jelly
And could undue the progress we have made

[Chef]

That's a great idea
We'll have a transitioning campaign
Via you cream more of the pies
And Mestuffstoplease jelly more cakes

[...]

Mestuffstoplease was pleased with the result
But he was kind of sad for his cake
I guess cake would feel the same for sugar
Buttermilk, vinegar, cocoa and the eggs

But not all can stop and talk
With that which helps them to create
Still Mestuffstoplease had a new appreciation
For what he put upon his plates

Is this what it takes
To sympathize and find compassion
To live with what you'll eat
And converse until you see them worth having

These questions disturbed Mestuffstoplease
And he would never be quite the same
Though he'd make his desserts without compromise
He'd have an appreciation for their passing
