Finding Calvin Part. 1- 4 - Raised Beds (Updated 7/16/24)

The Jelly Man scurries
And he's feeling the heat
He hurries to the valet
Gets his car and he flees
Now he's back on the road
And he's giddy with glee
Almost losing one's freedom
Is exhilarating

He regains self-control
And the locus beneath
And he's s focused on the place *
Where he still has to be
For with his new approach
And his soccer jersey
He still must learn how to hone *
His lieability

[...]

Choe is to food
As Ju is to chew
And Song is to sing
As jelly is to spoon

At least that's what he thought
Waiting to buy his jersey and shoes
Plus he liked the star and the stripes
With the patriotic red, white, and the blue

But he never played the game
And he doesn't know the rules
What will the Mexicans think
If he doesn't know about this Ju

He can just say it's a gift
From his niece or nephew
It'll make him looked loved
And a family man too

But all this reminiscing
And ruminating to boot
Distracts him from driving
So he turns on some tunes

Later than expected
He checks into his room
Finding its lavender bed
And its pillowy view

He wakes up at around seven
And he checks his hairdo
It looks complementary
To his jersey, jeans, and new shoes

On his drive to the restaurant
He'd go over what he'll do
He thinks about his demeanor
And his general attitude

He thought being the cool boss
Wasn't impositional truth
It was a shared understanding
An all-encompassing view

So he thought of some ticks
Some things he could do
To show them he's the same
Therefore trustworthy too

Sometimes he would scratch
Sometimes he would stretch
He'd even rub his chin
To show them that he's stressed

Once in a while he'd stare
And absurdly laugh too
For he saw that behavior
In almost every classroom

But he'd have to make sure
That others shared the same view
And he'd have to be looking
At the weirdest one in the room

This was a cool tactic
All the cool kids would use
And now as the cool boss
He decided to too

As he arrives cool and measured
He sees a worker in view
So he makes the added effort
To show him he's the dude

[Mestuffstuffstoplease]

What's up bro
Is Rodrigo inside

[Worker]

Yeah, he should be

[...]

He gives him a thumbs up
As he continues his stride
For cool bosses can't stop
They have big fish to fry

He winks at the hostess
As he grabs a mint from her basket
For cool bosses don't ask
They just take what they're having

As he walks in the kitchen
He receives a few glares
But a cool boss always knows
How to look when he's there

As he finds Rodrigo
He gives him a fist bump
And asks if he's ready
To go over all of this stuff

[Mestuffstoplease]

You ready to go over all of this stuff

[Rodrigo]

What do you mean

[Mestuffstoplease]

To go over the modus operandi
Are you ready

[Rodrigo]

Oh, yeah, sorry, but the way you're dressed through me through a loop
Interesting choice...are you a fan

[Mestuffstoplease]

Oh, it's a gift from my niece

[Rodrigo]

Is she adopted

[Mestuffstoplease]

What do you mean?

[Rodrigo]

Oh, nothing, it's just an interesting choice, that's all

[Mestuffstoplease]

She just really loves her country

[Rodrigo]

Ah, okay.  Do you play?

[Mestuffstoplease]

Once in a while, but just for fun

[Rodrigo]

Cool bro.  We play at the plex on Saturdays
You should come

[Mestuffstoplease]

I'll keep that in mind

[...]

Being the cool guy
Isn't as easy as it seems
He'll have to look inside
And reimagine what he sees

[Mestuffstoplease]

So what's the chatter
Have you heard anything
What do people think
Of the service and jellies

[Rodrigo]

Great Jefe
I mean I've heard no complaints

[...]

On his way out the kitchen
He fixes up a jellied biscuit
He chooses a flavor
That matched his current vision

[Mestuffstoplease]

No complaints is no bueno
We need to know what people think
So we can decide where this goes

[Rodrigo]

Comprende
But most people don't complain
Because most people are nice
Besides most people know kitchens
And what they do there inside

[Mestuffstoplease]

You're right
I think we need to make a change
Something that'll shed some light
We're going to knock down that kitchen wall
And let them see what they'll find

And to complement what they'll see
We'll help to refreshen their sight
We're painting the walls green
With vegetable and fruit designs

[...]

Mestuffstoplease somewhat keeps his guard up
For he hasn't seamlessly combined
Being the consummate professional
And at the same time being the cool guy

But he would get through it
One cool step at a time
He'd make reasonable gestures
And efforts at humor sometimes

And though problems have been solved
There's a sort of a different kind
For though his jellies are involved
They're not receiving prime time

[Mestuffstuffstoplease]

I see my jelly schema on the tables
And I see my jelly on the jelly racks
But how much jelly have you produced
With the jelly ingredients that I sent

[Rodrigo]

Without anywhere to ship them
I only have a few dozen in the back
But I'm afraid to make more
For the lack of orders that we have

[Mestuffstoplease]

Rodrigo, it'll be fine
Just make the jelly
The orders will come

[Rodrigo]

I don't know, Jefe
I mean this is a restaurant
We need space for product
That we sell every day

In fact we'd be better off
Putting the jelly we made
In the pies and the cakes

[...]

Mestuffstuffstoplease snaps
And he conjures up the past
For the first time in his life
He would sound just like his dad

[Mestuffstoplease]

I don't give a hoot and holler about the pies and cakes
You make that damn jelly
In fact jelly in the cupcakes
Jelly on roast beef
Jelly where you can jelly
For that is the Pieman's dream

And you tell the chef I said that too *
I want all of us on the same page going forward
I want people leaving here knowing about jelly
If that happens the jelly will sell...

In fact, I want a jelly stand by the hostess
And you make it pretty like

[Rodrigo)

Yeah, no problem, Jefe

[...]

Though not quite as he remembered
He did remember his father's frustration
But it involved some farm equipment
And his farmstead's coy technician

He seemed like he was a good man
And purchased without competition
And then pimped out to his father's friends
And fellow farmers for a commission

But that was a long time ago
And that's a different preoccupation
Instead of his father's farmstead
He chose to focus on his creations

For he fell in love with his berry bushes
And weaving paths to his amazement
For their number seemed incalculable
And he couldn't see beyond their raised beds

But now his passions are in the past
And have turned into business obligations
For he needs to sell his jelly fast
For his upcoming mansion payments

And just like the raised berry beds
Money can lead to obfuscation
But it can also be a pleasing view
Depending on the viewer and his summation

So it seems quite the same
With his new lifestyle alterations
Once he gets his jelly income stream
He can enjoy the firstfruits of his creations

On his way back to his hotel room
He enjoys the scenic drive's location
For the horizon is a majestic sight
With the green sky fluctuation

From the corner of his bright blue eye
He sees a Gmail notification
For the many jelly orders on standby
Replicating in silent procreation
